Dewas (MP), Jul 17 (PTI) Police in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district on Friday launched a special campaign against the sale of tobacco products near educational campuses and sealed 32 shops for violation of law, an official said. Dewas Superintendent of Police (SP) Punit Gehlot told PTI that as part of the police's state-wide campaign "Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0" (distance from addiction is necessary), special inspections were conducted around various schools and colleges across the district. "During the inspection, 32 shops located near educational campuses were sealed for violating the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003," he informed. The SP insisted it is extremely important to protect students from tobacco addiction, and the police are continuing their awareness campaign to this effect. According to officials, the provisions of the Act prohibit the sale of tobacco products within 100 yards of any educational campus. PTI HWP MAS RSY
