Faridabad, Jul 15 (PTI) Two labourers were killed after the overhanging ledge of a closed shop collapsed on them here on Wednesday morning, police said. According to police, the shop, located near Chawla Colony in Ballabgarh, had remained closed for the past three days. The two men were standing beneath the shop's overhanging ledge when it suddenly collapsed at around 10 am, trapping them under the debris. Local residents rushed to the spot, pulled the two out from under the debris and shifted them to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The deceased, Amarjit Kumar and Santosh Kumar, both hailed from Begusarai in Bihar. They worked as labourers and lived in rented accommodation in Jeevan Nagar Colony in Ballabgarh, police said. Station House Officer Umesh Kumar said preliminary investigation suggested that continuous rainfall and the dilapidated condition of the overhanging ledge caused the collapse. "The matter is under investigation. If any negligence comes to light, appropriate legal action will be taken," he said. PTI COR MDO MDO
