Korba (Chhattisgarh), Jul 15 (PTI) Two minor siblings riding a scooter on a highway were killed and another boy suffered critical injuries after a tanker collided with their two-wheeler in Chhattisgarh's Korba district on Wednesday morning, police said. Locals later blocked the highway for about an hour, demanding action against the tanker driver, who was arrested. The accident occurred at around 9.30 am on the Katghora-Ambikapur stretch of NH-130 under the Bango police station limits, they said. A 12-year-old boy, his 13-year-old sister and another boy, also aged 13, were riding the scooter when the tanker allegedly hit their vehicle and ran over them, Bango Station House Officer (SHO) Durgesh Verma said. The siblings died on the spot, while the third child sustained critical injuries and was admitted to a hospital for treatment, he said. All three children were residents of Thihai Bhatha village in Kunkuna gram panchayat, the official said. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and shifted the injured child to a hospital. The tanker driver was arrested, and legal proceedings have been initiated, he said. The accident triggered protests by local villagers, who blocked the Katghora-Ambikapur National Highway for nearly an hour, demanding action against the tanker driver. Revenue and administrative officials later reached the spot and pacified them. An investigation into the accident was underway. On Tuesday, two medical students, including a woman, were killed and another sustained critical injuries after a coal-laden trailer truck collided with their motorcycle in the Balco police station area of Korba district.
