New Delhi, Jul 8 (PTI) BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said on Wednesday that more than 11 lakh party workers have been trained through a digital learning programme since its rollout in April.
Calling it a "major achievement" in digital empowerment of the party's booth-level workers, the Rajya Sabha MP said that efforts will be ramped up to further enhance the nationwide coverage of the programme.
"At least 10 party workers at every booth will be trained under the programme. A nationwide target of training one crore party workers has been set," Chugh said.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin had launched the party's digital learning programme in the presence of general secretary (organisation) B L Santhosh and joint general secretary (organisation) Shiv Prakash at an event organised here to mark the party's foundation day on April 6.
Chugh said the training team under Prakash drove the digital learning programme forward while working with the party's "district-mandal structures".
He said 11,01,618 karyakartas have joined the SARAL app-based digital learning platform, which offers study materials in 12 languages, videos, quizzes and digital certificates.
"The training covered an introduction to the BJP, the party's history, the 'panch nishtha', teachings of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the Modi government's welfare schemes, the NaMo App, Mann Ki Baat and the party's major organisational programmes," he said.
Describing the programme as a "success', Chugh said that in terms of state-wise performance, Madhya Pradesh led with the highest number of workers (1,83,113) while Tripura achieved a participation rate of approximately 20 workers per booth and an 85 per cent completion rate.
"Arunachal Pradesh and Chandigarh recorded a participation of over five workers per booth, while Chhattisgarh 90 per cent, Arunachal Pradesh 89 per cent, Madhya Pradesh 87 per cent, Tripura 85 per cent, Himachal Pradesh 85 per cent, Nagaland 83 per cent and Ladakh 83 per cent," he said.
Chugh said the training programme drew inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India Mission.
"Every booth will soon have at least 10 fully trained digital karyakartas, the party's greatest strength. With the resolve that every karyakarta be trained and every booth digitally empowered, the campaign continues to scale new heights," the BJP leader said.
It will help carry the message of good governance to the grassroots, he added. PTI PK PK KSS KSS
