Varanasi Ganga Ghat Ritual Culture Kashi

Varanasi's 84 ghats along the Ganga are one of humanity's oldest living cultural landscapes. The ritual of Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat draws thousands nightly. The ghats support an intricate service economy of boat operators, flower sellers, pandas (priests), silk traders, musicians, and astrologers. The Kashi Vishwanath corridor revitalisation (2021) has transformed the temple approach. Varanasi is also a centre of classical music (Benares Gharana), Sanskrit scholarship, and Ayurvedic medicine.
