Zardozi is heavy gold and silver metallic thread embroidery practiced in Lucknow, Bareilly, and Farrukhababad. The craft uses thick twisted gold wire (zari), sequins, and precious stone clusters to embroider bridal wear, Nawabi sherwani, and ceremonial garments. Lucknow's Zardozi employs over 50,000 embroiderers. The craft declined after Mughal patronage ended but revived through fashion industry demand.
