Karauli Ranthambore Tiger Reserve Crafts Heritage Rajasthan
Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team
Karauli district in eastern Rajasthan is the entry point for the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve — one of India's most popular tiger tourism destinations, where tigers are seen on open scrub terrain making for spectacular wildlife photography. The ancient Ranthambore Fort (10th century) inside the reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage site in conjunction with other Rajasthan hill forts. Karauli's own heritage — the Karauli town's pink city palace, Madan Mohan temple, and the city's blue-painted streets — is distinct from Jaipur's pink city. The Karauli Katli sweet (thin milk fudge) and the district's block printing and tie-dye textile tradition are local craft markers.
