Fatehabad Kinnow Citrus Orchards Canal Irrigated

Fatehabad district's Haryana-Punjab border belt near Tohana and Ratia has developed kinnow citrus orchards on canal-irrigated loam soils where the combination of cold winters and hot summers develops high sugar-acid balance in the fruit. Fatehabad kinnow is harvested from December to February and supplied to Haryana and Delhi wholesale markets. The district horticulture department promotes kinnow as a diversification crop for wheat-paddy farmers who can install drip irrigation systems under the PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana subsidy to achieve the precise moisture management kinnow requires for optimal fruit quality.
