Rewari Railway Locomotive Shed Heritage

Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team

Rewari is a major railway junction in Haryana where the Delhi-Bathinda, Delhi-Jaipur, and Delhi-Ajmer rail lines converge, hosting one of India's last operational steam locomotive sheds that maintains heritage steam engines for museum and special heritage train runs. The Rewari Steam Locomotive Shed, managed by Indian Railways, is a living industrial heritage site that attracts train enthusiasts from India and abroad, and the locomotives are periodically steamed up for photo charters and heritage specials on the Rewari-Rohtak and Rewari-Phulera routes. Rewari's railway junction identity has shaped its commerce and culture since the colonial era.
