Sircilla Handloom Textile Capital and Weaver Heritage of Telangana

Rajanna Sircilla district, with the town of Sircilla at its heart, is Telangana's largest handloom weaving centre — often called the Manchester of Telangana. The district has over 30,000 looms and 50,000+ weavers producing suiting and shirting fabric, sarees, and dress material. The weaving community expanded dramatically in the 1970s–1990s as the power loom industry displaced handloom in other regions, but Sircilla's cooperative framework and government support maintained production. The Sircilla Handloom Weavers' Cooperative Society is one of the largest textile cooperatives in Telangana. The district's weavers have diversified into home furnishing fabric, school uniform cloth, and suiting material for government supply contracts alongside traditional saree production.
