Jharkhand Singhbhum Iron Ore Steel Mining

Jharkhand contains one of India's richest mineral belts, with Singhbhum district holding the country's largest iron ore deposits alongside manganese, copper, and chromite. The Noamundi, Kiriburu, and Meghahataburu mines feed the SAIL steel plants in Bokaro and Bhilai. The tribal communities of Ho, Munda, and Santhal live over these mineral-rich lands but historically gained little from extraction. Jharkhand's Panchayat (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act requires tribal gram sabha consent for mining in scheduled areas.
