Fazilka Cotton Ginning Southwest Punjab

Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team

Fazilka, at the southwestern tip of Punjab bordering Rajasthan and Pakistan, is part of the Malwa cotton belt and hosts ginning factories that process raw cotton harvested from the district's canal-irrigated fields. The Fazilka mandi receives cotton arrivals from October to December, and ginning units separate lint from seed to produce standardised bale grades for spinning mills. Fazilka's proximity to the Rajasthan border means it also receives cotton from Ganganagar and Hanumangarh farmers, making the district a regional ginning hub for the western Punjab-Rajasthan cotton zone.
