Mercury soars to 39.1 degrees C in Delhi
New Delhi, Apr 16 (PTI) Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 39.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, 2.3 notches above the season’s average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 23.4 degrees Celsius, 1.8 notches above the season’s average, it said, adding that the relative humidity was 50 per cent and 34 per cent at 8:30 am and 5:30 pm respectively.
On Thursday, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 40 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
The air quality was recorded in the “moderate” category as the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 220 at 4 pm.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, and 401 and 500 “severe”. PTI SSJ RC
