Bandar (Machilipatnam) Laddu is one of Andhra Pradesh's most famous sweets — a large, dense ball of gram flour, ghee, and sugar with a distinctive slightly grainy texture from slow-roasting. The craft of Bandar Laddu making is practised by traditional halwai families in Machilipatnam who have maintained the recipe for generations. The laddu is characterised by its perfect roundness, golden colour, and extended shelf life of 15–20 days at room temperature. Krishna district also produces Tapeswaram Kobbari Mithai — a coconut and jaggery candy from Tapeswaram village that has been made by a handful of families for over 200 years using a recipe unchanged from its origin. These regional sweets are distributed as prasadam at temples and gifted at weddings.
