Gaya Tilkut Sesame Jaggery Pitha Sweet Bihar

Tilkut is Gaya's signature sweet — roasted sesame (til) seeds mixed with jaggery and shaped into thin round discs by the artisan hands of tilkut makers who roll and flatten the warm mixture on marble slabs at speed before it sets. Gaya's tilkut is sold at the city's sweet shops and craft stalls around Vishnupad temple, where pilgrims performing pinda-daan (ancestor rites) on the banks of the Falgu river purchase tilkut as a traditional offering. The GI-protected Gaya Tilkut is one of Bihar's most recognised food heritage products; tilkut-making families in Gaya have practised the craft for generations and supply national e-commerce platforms for Gaya tilkut delivery across India.
