Dal Milling and Pulse Processing Cooperatives of Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh is India's largest pulse-producing state (toor, urad, chana, moong). Traditionally hulled in stone chakki mills losing 20–30% to dust and broken dhal. NABARD-funded dal mills reduce loss to 6–8% using rubber roller hullers and aspirators. Cooperative mills process 1–5 tonne/day. DBT subsidy transfers value from trader to farmer. Malwa plateau's toor dal cooperative has 3,000 members — each earns Rs 1,400/quintal vs. Rs 900 to grain dealers. Vertical integration: cooperative grows, mills, brands, and markets "Malwa Gold" branded dal.
