Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team

Bhadrak district in coastal north Odisha has a handloom weaving tradition in its Dhamnagar and Bhandari Pokhari blocks where Bhulia and Dera weaver communities produce cotton saris and fabrics for local household demand and regional markets. Jajpur district is significant as the birthplace of the Jajati (Jajpur) historical city and the Danteshwari temple, and its Kalinganagar industrial zone is Odisha's largest integrated steel and industrial cluster where TATA Steel, MSP Steel, and Kalinganagar industrial area serve as hubs for steel, ferro-chrome, and steel downstream industries. Jajpur's Biraja temple at Jajpur town is one of the 51 Shakti pithas — a major pilgrimage site for Odishan Hindus during Navaratra.
