Sirsa Kinnow Citrus Belt Haryana Rajasthan Border
Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team
Sirsa district's canal-irrigated well-drained soils produce good quality kinnow mandarin oranges, and the district along with adjoining Fatehabad and Punjab's Fazilka form a connected citrus belt where kinnow orchards supply North Indian winter fruit markets. Sirsa kinnow growers harvest from December to February and market fruit through Dabwali mandi and direct to Rajasthan buyers at Hanumangarh who wholesale the fruit to Jaipur and Jodhpur. The district horticulture department supports kinnow orchardists with protective nethouses, micro-irrigation subsidies, and post-harvest handling training to reduce field-to-market losses that historically eroded profitability.
