Rohtak Khadi Cotton Spinning Cooperative
Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team
Rohtak's KVIC khadi cooperative is one of Haryana's oldest, established during the Swadeshi movement era when Gandhi's village industries programme encouraged cotton spinning in every district. The cooperative in Rohtak's Civil Lines area provides ambar charkha frames and cotton slivers to home-based women spinners in villages of Rohtak, Maham, and Kalanaur tehsils, who return the handspun yarn for weaving into khadi fabric sold at KVIC outlets. Rohtak's khadi programme has maintained a loyal consumer base among government servants who receive khadi uniform cloth and patriotic buyers who prefer handspun fabric.
