Bhiwani Cotton Farming Ahirwal Haryana
Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team
Bhiwani district grows cotton as a kharif cash crop on deeper loam soils in canal-irrigated blocks, harvesting Bt-cotton capsules from September to November for ginning at Hisar and Bhiwani processing units. The cotton belt of Bhiwani connects to the broader Haryana-Rajasthan cotton zone and supplies raw material to Panipat's recycled textile industry and Ludhiana's spinning units. Bhiwani cotton farmers have been enrolled in the Haryana government's natural farming pilot programme, with desi cotton varieties like Desi Narma being trialled to reduce chemical input costs and water consumption in the district.
