Bengaluru Silk Weaving Cooperative Karnataka

Bengaluru in the Bengaluru Urban district of Karnataka is the historic centre of Karnataka silk weaving, with the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation KSIC operating the state-owned silk weaving cooperative factory at Mysore Road Bengaluru that produces pure mulberry Mysore silk sarees marketed under the Mysore Silk brand. Karnataka produces nearly 70 percent of India mulberry silk and the Bengaluru Mysore axis is the commercial centre of Indian silk production. The Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha silk cooperative supports sericulture farmers. Cooperative raw silk auction at Sidlaghatta and Ramanagara near Bengaluru sets national benchmark prices. Bengaluru IT economy has created a new urban consumer base for premium handloom silk sarees sold through Cauvery Karnataka craft cooperative emporium on Mahatma Gandhi Road. The KSIC silk saree is a prestige gift at government ceremonies and diplomatic events.
