According to the weatherman, Shopian recorded the lowest temperature at – 8.1 degrees Celsius as the temperature in the Kashmir valley continued to decline. Subsequently, the districts of Anantnag and Kulgam recorded minus 6.6°C and -5.8°C, respectively. Sonamarg reported -7.0°C, while Srinagar and Gulmarg recorded -4.6°C.
Ramban had the highest temperature at 8.1°C, while Jammu City recorded 6.5°C. Kargil and Leh recorded temperatures of -8.8°C and -7.4°C, respectively, in Ladakh.
The director of the meteorological department, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, stated that more severe weather is anticipated in the days ahead since temperatures are predicted to continue to decline after December 23rd, indicating a more severe cold wave that would coincide with the arrival of Chilai Kalan.
