Infosys, India’s second-largest software services company, has announced a significant update to its hybrid work policy. Effective from March 10, 2025, employees are required to work from the office for at least 10 days each month. This move aims to enhance in-person collaboration and ensure compliance through system interventions in attendance tracking.

Policy Details and Implementation
To enforce this new policy, Infosys will introduce system interventions in its attendance software. This means that work-from-home (WFH) requests will no longer be automatically approved, limiting the number of WFH days available to employees.
Impact on Employees
The updated policy will affect approximately 323,000 employees, including software engineers and team leaders. However, higher-level managers are exempt from this mandate.
Background and Previous Policies
In November 2023, Infosys had directed certain employees, specifically those in bands 5 and 6—which include mid-level managers, project heads, and entry-level staff—to work from the office for at least 10 days a month, starting November 20, 2023.
In-Person Collaboration Weeks
To further promote office attendance, Infosys introduced ‘In-Person Collaboration Weeks.’ During these designated weeks, employees are encouraged to work from the office, offering flexibility in choosing workdays. This initiative is part of the company’s efforts to increase campus attendance and enhance team collaboration.
Client Preferences and Work Models
Some Infosys clients have expressed a preference for employees to work from the office rather than from home. In response, Infosys implemented a three-phase plan in India to transition from remote work to office work. The first phase allowed employees to come to the office twice a week at their convenience. The second phase provided the option for employees to either relocate to a different branch office or request a transfer. Finally, Infosys developed a hybrid-work policy based on feedback from the previous stages, considering factors such as client needs and the regulatory environment.
Infosys’s updated hybrid work policy reflects a broader trend among IT companies to encourage in-office attendance while balancing the benefits of remote work. By implementing mandatory in-office days and introducing initiatives like ‘In-Person Collaboration Weeks,’ Infosys aims to foster collaboration, meet client expectations, and adapt to the evolving work environment.
