Important cases heard by the Supreme Court on Thursday, April 24: * SC said it will commence final hearing on May 6 and 7 on the appeals filed by the Gujarat government and several other convicts in the 2002 Godhra train burning case. * SC granted interim bail till May 8 to convict Vikas Yadav, serving a 25-year jail term in the 2002 Nitish Katara murder case, to meet his ailing mother.

* SC directed the Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh governments to designate senior officers to supervise the process to achieve 100 per cent collection and segregation of solid waste.

* SC allowed he University Grants Commission (UGC) to notify draft regulations 2025 which deals with the issues related to ragging, sexual harassment and discriminations including caste, gender, disability in institutions of higher learning.

* An accused in the Mundra drug haul case on Thursday informed SC that his children were being bullied in the school after the NIA alleged the proceeds of crime in the case were used in terror attacks by Lashkar-e-Taiba.

* SC brought “curtains down” on a 63-year-old tenancy dispute by ordering the legal heir of the tenant to hand over the possession of the “Mansarovar Palace” cinema hall in Prayagraj to the kin of the real owner.
