Mansa Goat Rearing Malwa Village Beetal

Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team

Mansa's smallholder and landless families keep Beetal and Barbari goats as a low-investment livelihood; goats graze on field bunds, crop stubble, and roadside vegetation, requiring minimal fodder purchase and providing milk, meat, and kid sales at festival seasons like Eid and Diwali. Mansa's goat rearing is typically managed by women and elderly family members who cannot do field labour, making it an important livelihood for vulnerable households. Government veterinary camps in Mansa provide subsidised deworming, vaccination against PPR and FMD, and breed improvement through Beetal buck distribution.
