Malda West Bengal Mango Fard Himsagar Cooperative

Malda district in West Bengal is the mango capital of eastern India, famous for aromatic Himsagar, Langra, and Fard Malda varieties grown in orchards along the Ganga and Mahananda river plains. Himsagar mango, with its fiberless pulp and honeyed sweetness, is among the most coveted mango varieties in India. Cooperative growers in Malda register under Malda Mango Growers Cooperative Society which collectively cold-stores fruit and arranges transport to Kolkata, Delhi, and export terminals. Fard Malda variety, ripened on the tree, has a short window of two to three weeks and commands premium price at Kolkata market. GI tag for Malda mango has been applied for. Orchard management cooperatives provide post-harvest drenching, wax coating, and carton packaging services.
