Hasanamba Temple Annual Opening Festival Heritage, Hassan

The Hasanamba Devi temple in Hassan town is distinctive in that it opens its doors only once a year — during the 8-day Hasanamba festival in October-November (during the Deepavali season). For the remaining 350+ days, the temple sanctum remains sealed, and the oil lamp lit at the previous year's closing is believed to burn continuously without refilling.
