Charkhi Dadri Bajra Cement Industry Haryana

Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team

Charkhi Dadri district, carved out of Bhiwani in 2016, combines dryland bajra farming on sandy soils with a cement manufacturing cluster that exploits limestone deposits in the Aravalli belt. The district's JK Cement and other cement units provide industrial employment to rural youth from farming families who supplement seasonal agricultural income with factory wages. Bajra pearl millet remains the primary kharif food crop for Charkhi Dadri's smallholder farms on unirrigated land, with farmers growing the quick-maturing HHB-67 variety that completes before monsoon withdrawal to minimise risk in this rain-shadow zone.
