Gukesh returns as Chess Champion

Must read

Thousands of people were waiting to see Gukesh, the youngest world champion in chess history, as
he arrived in Chennai more than an hour ago, surrounded by hundreds of cameras. Before being
driven away in a lavishly adorned car with numerous photos, the Indian teenager gave a brief remark
at the airport. Then, with his parents seated by him, he and his family gave a brief press conference
at his school, Vellamal International.

Last week in Singapore, Gukesh became the 18th world chess champion after defeating world
champion Ding Liren. After 14 games of fighting, the Chinese general manager lost the game, the
match, and his crown due to a rook error.

Ding had won the first game at the world championship, but Gukesh tied the score in the third.
After seven draws between the two, Gukesh won, but he lost the following game right away. Gukesh
became the youngest world champion in history by finally getting Ding to make a mistake in the last
game.
