Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, came to Port Blair to check the progress of national highway projects in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. While there, he had a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Admiral (Retd) D K Joshi to talk about improving infrastructure.

Gadkari’s schedule included trips to important historical places like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island. There, he explored old Japanese bunkers from World War II and visited the Smritika Museum, which was set up by the Indian Navy in 1993. He also showed respect at the Cellular Jail National Memorial, remembering the brave freedom fighters who were imprisoned there during British rule.

Gadkari spoke with local BJP members about important development issues like changing land use, healthcare, higher education, and road systems. The party members asked for his help to speed up projects that are important for the area’s progress.

A key moment of his trip was the news about the Chatham-Bambooflat Bridge. MP Bishnu Pada Ray said that Gadkari would start the construction of this much-needed bridge in four months. This is a major step forward in improving travel and connections between the islands.

Gadkari’s trip highlights the central government’s focus on improving infrastructure in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The goal is to support economic growth and make life better for the people living there. The upcoming Chatham-Bambooflat Bridge is expected to greatly improve local travel, helping to connect different parts of the islands more effectively.
