National Food Security Act (NFSA) — PDS Ration Entitlement
NFSA guarantees 5 kg rice/wheat/coarse grains per person per month at Rs 2–3/kg to 81 crore priority household beneficiaries through the Public Distribution System.

What you get
Priority Household (PHH): 5 kg per person per month at Rs 2/kg (wheat) and Rs 3/kg (rice). Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY): 35 kg per family per month at same prices. PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY): 5 kg additional free per person. Fortified rice mandated since 2022. Total 81 crore beneficiaries covered.
Who can apply
PHH: families identified by State Government. AAY: poorest of poor families — migrant workers, destitute, landless labourers.
For: PHH and AAY ration card holders
- Must have ration card (pink/yellow/green)
- Aadhaar seeding required for direct allocation
