Narsapur and Koyalagudem Handloom Tradition Adjacent to Sangareddy
Contributed by Swadesi Knowledge Team
Several villages in Sangareddy district adjacent to the Pochampally Ikat belt maintain handloom weaving traditions producing cotton check fabric and simple warp-stripe patterns for local consumption. The weavers supply cloth for the district's domestic market — lungis, sarees, and towels — through the Telangana Handloom Development Corporation. The craft here is less specialised than the Pochampally Ikat but represents a continuous weaving tradition adapted to serve the practical clothing needs of the region's farming and working population. District-level handloom exhibitions in Sangareddy provide weavers with direct consumer sales opportunities during festival seasons.
