Kewda Flower Attar — Bhadrak's Rare Screwpine Perfume
Contributed by System
Kewda (Pandanus fascicularis) groves in Ganjam and Bhadrak districts, Odisha, are the source of India's finest kewda water and attar — a delicately sweet, jasmine-adjacent fragrance distilled from male flower spathes during April–May. Odisha supplies 90% of India's kewda attar, used in biryani, paan, and the attar trade of Lucknow and Kannauj. A single spathe yields only 1 ml of attar.
