Karimnagar district is known for two distinct crafts: silver filigree jewellery (Karimnagar silver filigree, GI-tagged) where master silversmiths make lightweight floral and geometric ornaments in oxidised silver wire; and the cotton handloom Karimnagar silk mix saris (Karimnagar silk-cotton) woven by Devanga and Padmasali weaver communities on jacquard and pit looms. The district's coal reserves at Ramagundam and the NTPC Ramagundam thermal power station (one of India's oldest power plants, 1965) supply electricity to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, making Karimnagar a dual-character district of craft heritage and industrial energy.
