Dhokra Brass Lost Wax Casting Tribal Odisha

Odisha's Dhokra craft (lost-wax brass casting) is practiced by the Dhokra Damar tribal community in Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj districts. Artisans create figures of tribal gods, animals, and ritual vessels by coating wax models in clay, melting out the wax, and pouring molten brass. Each piece is unique. Dhokra art from Odisha features rougher textures than the smoother Bastar style. Government craft schemes and Handicrafts Corporation procurement have supported Dhokra artisans in accessing national craft markets.
