Bollywood star Aditya Roy Kapur makes his playback singing debut in Metro… In Dino, lending his voice to multiple songs in the film’s soundtrack. The announcement was made during the launch of the first song, “Zamaana Lage,” on May 28, 2025, with the film set for release on July 4, 2025. Directed by Anurag Basu and featuring music by Pritam, the film stars Kapur alongside Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, and Neena Gupta.

Kapur, known for acting in musicals like Aashiqui 2, recorded songs for scenes filmed on him, adding emotional depth to the narrative. The teaser was unveiled at a grand event at Yuhi Lounge in Mumbai, generating buzz across India and online platforms.

A Soulful Surprise at the Song Launch

At the Metro… In Dino music launch on May 28, 2025, composer Pritam dropped a bombshell: Aditya Roy Kapur has stepped into the recording booth for the film’s soundtrack, singing for his on-screen musical sequences. “Musical-based stars sing their own songs, and in this too, the musicals filmed on Adi have been sung by him. He is sounding amazing,” Pritam revealed, sparking excitement among fans. The teaser for “Zamaana Lage,” sung by Arijit Singh and Shashwat Singh, set the tone for the film’s emotional urban romance, but Kapur’s vocal contribution to other tracks—part of a 10-song album—has amplified anticipation.

Kapur’s Musical Journey and Fan Connection

Known for Aashiqui 2 and Ludo, Kapur expressed his thrill at being part of Metro… In Dino, a spiritual sequel to Anurag Basu’s 2007 hit Life in a… Metro. “It’s very special for me. I was a big fan of the first film,” he said, noting how singing his own songs added depth to his performance. “As an actor, you act like you’re singing, but actually singing them brings so much more to the story.” His live performance at the launch, described as “raw and melodious” by Pop Diaries, left attendees emotional, cementing his vocal prowess.

A Stellar Collaboration and Cultural Impact

Metro… In Dino, the final chapter of Basu’s hyperlinked trilogy, explores modern love in urban India, with Pritam’s music as its emotional core. The 10-to-12-song album, blending ghazals and contemporary tracks, revives the Basu-Pritam magic of Barfi and Gangster. Kapur’s singing debut, paired with the ensemble cast’s star power, positions the film as a cultural touchstone. The teaser’s visuals, showing Kapur in a geeky avatar and Sara Ali Khan in a vibrant cityscape, hint at a narrative weaving love, loss, and longing. With global buzz and festival potential, Kapur’s vocals could redefine Bollywood’s musical legacy.
