6 killed, 3 injured as MUV overturns in MP’s Raisen
Bhopal, Apr 21 (PTI) At least six persons were killed and three others injured after a multi-utility vehicle (MUV) overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district on Monday, police said.
The accident occurred around 7 am near a roadside eatery under the Sultanpur police station area, Additional Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Kharpuse said.
He said nine persons were returning to Indore from Patna, Bihar, in the MUV after attending a marriage function.
Six persons were killed in the accident. The three injured persons were admitted to the District Hospital in Raisen and undergoing treatment, he said.
The deceased are identified as Mohan Lal Kuril (68), Chanda Devi (60), Balaram Chopra (30), Sarita Kholwal (25) and Chinu (2) and the driver, Sunil.
Sultanpur police station in-charge Santosh Singh said the bride and the groom were among those injured in the accident and are undergoing treatment.
Prima facie, the accident occurred because the driver dozed off at the wheel and hit a culvert, causing the vehicle to overturn, he said.
The official said the injured were later referred to Bhopal for further treatment. PTI COR ADU GK ARU
