Pralhad Joshi visits integrated renewable enrgy project in AP

New Delhi, Apr 19 (PTI) Union Minister Pralhad Joshi visited an integrated renewable energy storage project at Pinnapuram in Andhra Pradesh that is designed to supprt steel, aluminium and hydrogen industries, according to a release.

Joshi, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, took an aerial tour of the facility and visited various components of the mega integrated renewable energy project.

The facility is being developed by Greenco Group with a total investment of USD 4.2 billion, comprising USD 1.2 billion for the pumped storage component and USD 3 billion for the solar and wind generation infrastructure.

The GW-scale Integrated Renewable Energy Project includes 4,000 MW of solar, 1,000 MW of wind, and 1,680 MW of pumped hydropower generation. With a storage capacity of 10,080 MWh per day in a single cycle, the dispatchable, carbon-free energy generated from the project will support industries such as green steel, green aluminum, and green hydrogen production.

Anil Chalamalasetty, Group CEO and MD of Greenko said this initiative, which combines solar, wind, and pumped storage power, will make a vital contribution to global efforts to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries. PTI PLB MR
