Delhi CM Gupta flags off walkathon as part of Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations
New Delhi, Apr 13 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off a walkathon in tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar on Sunday, a day before his birth anniversary.
Gupta said that special ‘assembly sessions’ based on Ambedkar’s life, ideas, and struggles will be conducted across all the city’s government schools during the fortnight-long celebration.
She flagged off the ‘Dr Ambedkar Walkathon’ from the Vidhan Sabha.
She said the walk was a medium to spread Ambedkar’s message of justice, equality, and rights to every citizen.
“Dr Ambedkar was not a leader of any one caste or community, but a national icon. We must not just remember him, but embody his principles through our actions,” the BJP leader said.
She urged people to rise above political divides and embrace Ambedkar’s ideas for an inclusive, empowered, and progressive India.
Gupta also claimed it was only under Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Ambdekar has been given “the honour he truly deserved.” PTI NSM VN VN
