In a remarkable achievement, Tata Motors’ compact SUV, the Tata Punch, has secured the position of the best-selling compact SUV in India during the first half of the fiscal year 2025. From April to September 2024, the Punch recorded a substantial 40.1% year-on-year growth, with total sales reaching 101,820 units. This is a significant increase from the 72,626 units sold during the same period in the previous fiscal year. ​

Surpassing Competitors

The Tata Punch’s impressive sales figures have outpaced several notable competitors in the compact SUV segment. Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza secured the second position with 93,659 units sold, reflecting a 14.3% annual growth. Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx followed with 73,841 units, marking a 16.3% increase. Tata’s own Nexon experienced a decline of 8.3%, selling 72,350 units, while Hyundai’s Venue saw a 10.8% decrease, with 56,521 units sold during the same period. ​

Achieving Milestones

In addition to leading the compact SUV segment, the Tata Punch has achieved another significant milestone by becoming the fastest SUV to surpass the 400,000 sales mark in India, accomplishing this feat in just 34 months since its launch in October 2021. This rapid success underscores the vehicle’s growing popularity among Indian consumers. ​

Product Enhancements and Features

Tata Motors has continually updated the Punch to enhance its appeal. The latest model comes equipped with several new features, including a segment-first 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, a grand console with an armrest and rear AC vents, and a fast C-type USB charger. These additions aim to provide a more comfortable and technologically advanced driving experience. ​

The Punch is available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, offering both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission options. Additionally, Tata Motors provides a factory-fitted CNG variant, catering to the diverse preferences of Indian consumers. ​
