Arvind Kejriwal Unveils 7-Point Manifesto for the Middle Class Ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), today shared a 7-point plan to help the middle class, urging the central government to act quickly to improve their situation. At a press meeting, Kejriwal highlighted how important the middle class is to India’s economy, calling it the “real superpower.” He said this group has been overlooked and used mainly for paying taxes for too long.

Kejriwal’s manifesto comes just ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, where the AAP is seeking to strengthen its appeal among middle-class voters.

Here are the seven key demands that the Arvind kejriwal’s party has made for the central government:

  • Increase in Education Budget: Kejriwal’s first request was to raise the education budget a lot, from the current 2% to 10%. He also asked for a limit on the fees that private schools can charge, so that good education becomes affordable for everyone in society.
  • Increase in Health Budget & Removal of Tax on Health Insurance: Kejriwal wanted to make healthcare more accessible for everyone. He asked for the health budget to be raised to 10% of the country’s total budget. He also suggested that taxes on health insurance should be removed, as they have been making it hard for middle-class families to afford it.
  • Raising Income Tax Exemption Limit: Arvind Kejriwal suggested increasing the income tax exemption limit from Rs 7 lakh to at least Rs 10 lakh. This step is likely to provide significant relief to middle-income families, who are facing difficulties due to the increasing cost of living.
  • GST Relief on Essential Items: Kejriwal asked for the removal of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on basic items, saying it unfairly impacts middle-class families. The AAP believes this move would help make everyday things cheaper for ordinary people.
  • Pension and Retirement Plans for Senior Citizens: The document asks for better retirement and pension plans for older people. Additionally, Kejriwal demanded free healthcare for seniors in both government and private hospitals all over India, making sure they get proper medical treatment as they grow older.
  • 50% Concession on Railway Travel for Senior Citizens: Kejriwal’s plan includes full support for older people. One of the promises is to bring back the 50% discount on train tickets for seniors. This discount was available before but has been stopped.
  • Budget Dedicated to the Middle Class: Lastly, Kejriwal stressed that the next Union Budget should focus on helping the middle class. He suggested it should include measures to ease their money problems and improve their well-being.

The AAP’s plan to help the middle class has been well-received by city voters, especially those finding it hard to cope with rising costs for education, healthcare, and everyday needs. Kejriwal’s push for lower taxes and better support for older citizens also matches the increasing call for a fairer and more caring economic system.

The party believes that if these ideas are put into action, they will greatly ease the burden on the middle class, which is a crucial part of India’s economy. This announcement comes just a few weeks before the important Delhi Assembly elections, making it a major part of AAP’s campaign strategy.

With the 2025 Budget approaching, everyone’s watching to see how the central government will address these demands and whether it can balance helping the middle class while managing the country’s financial responsibilities.
