The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its second manifesto for the upcoming Delhi Assembly Election 2025. The party has promised to provide free education “from KG to PG” to “needy students” in government educational institutions in Delhi.
While launching BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’, BJP MP Anurag Thakur announced that the party would provide ₹15,000 as one-time financial assistance to young aspirants for competitive exam preparation. Additionally, travel and application fees would be reimbursed up to two times.
Earlier, BJP had released the first part of its manifesto, with women as the central focus. It included promises of ₹2,500 monthly aid for women, ₹21,000 for every pregnant woman, subsidized LPG cylinders at ₹500, and a ₹2,500 pension for senior citizens.
Special Schemes for Women
BJP National President JP Nadda, while unveiling the first manifesto, emphasized it as the foundation for a “developed Delhi.” Nadda assured that if BJP is voted to power, all existing welfare schemes will not only continue but will be made more effective by eliminating corruption.
He further announced that the BJP-led Delhi government would implement the ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme in its very first cabinet meeting, providing an additional ₹5 lakh health insurance cover to every resident of the city.
For women, the manifesto promises ₹2,500 monthly assistance under the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana,’ surpassing the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) promise of ₹2,100. It also pledges ₹21,000 and six nutrition kits for every pregnant woman under the ‘Chief Minister Matritva Suraksha Yojana.’
Support for the Poor and Senior Citizens
The manifesto promises LPG cylinders at ₹500 for economically weaker sections and an additional free cylinder during Holi and Diwali festivals.
For senior citizens, the pension amount will be increased. People aged 60-70 years will receive ₹2,500 per month (up from ₹2,000), while those above 70, including widows, disabled individuals, and destitutes, will get ₹3,000 per month (up from ₹2,500).
“BJP’s Vision for Delhi”
BJP positions its manifesto as a counter to the Aam Aadmi Party’s welfare-centric governance model. Nadda described it as the cornerstone of a “developed Delhi” while emphasizing the party’s intent to eliminate corruption and ensure transparent implementation of schemes.
Three-Way Electoral Battle
Voting for Delhi’s 70 Assembly seats will take place on February 5, with results declared on February 8.
The ruling AAP is eyeing its third consecutive term in power. Although its manifesto has not been officially released yet, AAP has already proposed a range of freebies and continues to bank on its signature policies, such as improved government schools, mohalla clinics, and free electricity.
Congress and BJP are set to challenge AAP’s stronghold, aiming to disrupt its welfare-focused governance model.
With manifestos that focus on welfare, health, and education, the election is shaping up to be a tight contest between BJP, AAP, and Congress.
